ROME, GA— The regal hue of Rome High School’s famed red carpet reflected in the accomplished blush of RHS AP (Advanced Placement) students newly inducted into the “High Five Club” on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
The event celebrated AP students who earned the highest achievable score on an AP exam; a five. While there are over 400 AP students at RHS, more than 40 students earned that top score on at least one exam in nineteen different subjects ranging from physics to psychology to World History.
“Per the College Board, these students' scores are the equivalent to an A+ in the college course for that subject which is quite an achievement for any high school student,” Honors Day Committee Chair and AP English teacher, Amanda Howell, said. “While a score on an exam of a 3 or higher will award the students college credit, these scores serve as an indicator of just how well a student will perform in their college courses.”
Last week, Howell said, all AP students were rewarded with a special social time and a snack, and any student who scored a three or higher also received an AP Celebration Cup.
“Rome High School has a rich history in our AP Program, and we celebrate students at all levels on AP Celebration Day,” Howell added. “We believe in rewarding our students for working so hard within their classes as well as on their exams. We want to make sure our students know how much they are appreciated and that we see how hard they work each and every day.”
