rome high act scores

Rome City School students outperformed the national average on the ACT, scoring highest in reading and science, according to data released by the Georgia Department of Education on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Rome students scored an average of 18.8 in English, 19.5 in Mathematics, 21.3 in Reading, and 20.1 in Science. The total average composite score for Rome High School students came in at 20.

Those scores were all higher than the national average in each category and higher than the averages that Rome High School students scored in 2024.

"Our scores show that we are preparing students for college. Combined with our Advanced Placement and dual enrollment programs, our school system has a laser-sharp focus on preparing students for college or work,” Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland says. “I would also like to give a special thank you to our teachers and parents for their collaborative effort to support our students."

All scores are based on 2025 high school graduates who took the ACT at any point during their sophomore, junior, or senior years in high school.

“Our students’ performance on the ACT is a direct reflection of their commitment and the high caliber of instruction provided by our dedicated teaching staff," Rome High Principal Parke Wilkinson says. "We are proud of their efforts. These scores validate the high academic standards we set at Rome High, and it’s encouraging to see their efforts pay off.”
